Stacy's Portrait Party
I had a blast at a portrait party this past Tuesday. The kids were so adorable and it just reaffirmed how much I love looking through my lens at them. Thanks Ella, Amanda, Addison, Jackson, Tyler, Gabriel and Erik! And thank you Stacy for inviting me out to do this! I hope you all enjoy the photos as much as I do!

Sadness
I participate in a photography forum called Grow. It was started by my favorite children's photographer named Barb Uil a.k.a. Jinky. I have a link to her work on my blog. Anyway, I have met so many amazing child photographers on this forum, most just like me - moms who love to take pictures and are trying to start a business doing what they love. We chat daily and share info and tips and our work for critique and growth. One such mom, Sheye Rosemeyer (also on linked on my blog bottom left...) lost her beautiful 3 year old daughter Ava over the weekend. They live in Brisbane Australia, where it is summer. Sheye and her husband and 4 (gorgeous!) children live next door to her inlaws. Right next door. The kids always go back and forth, back and forth. Well, little Ava decided to play a trick on everyone, being 3, and hid in the family's black car in the driveway. The grandparents thought she was at home, the parents thought she was with the grandparents. Due to the child locks being on, she could not get out and the temps rose to probably over 100 degrees in the car in about 10 minutes. She lived for 2 days in a coma, but unfortunately passed away. Our photography forum is devastated for numerous reasons. One, Sheye is such a funny, giving, amazing photographer/person. We are aching for our friend. Two, we all looked at her beautful photos and felt like we knew her children personally (look at Ava up there!) Three, we all know this could happen to any one of us. All of us on the forum know it sounds weird to have "cyber friends" but they are real, and I am so sad. Sheye wants to remind everyone to always keep your cars locked in your driveways and teach your children as early as you can to honk the horn loud and long if they are ever trapped inside. May strength and peace find my friend Sheye and her family at his horrible, unbelievable, tragic time.
